HOW TO MAKE SPRING ROLLS

Make Spring rolls

Ingredients

For the Binder:

  1. Plain flour
  2. Cool water

             For the Filling:

  1. Vegetable oil
  2. Cabbage( cut or grated)
  3. Spices (seasoning cubes, curry etc.)
  4. Minced chicken breast or beef
  5. Medium sized carrots( peeled or grated)
  6. Onion (sliced)
  7. Green bell pepper
  8. Chicken stock

 

Method

  1. Put the chopped cabbage in a saucepan, add the chicken stock and a pinch of salt and boil until it becomes tender.
  2. Add the grated or chopped carrots, green peas and the bell pepper to it and simmer until tender and strain.
  3. Then add the minced meat/chicken, onion and heat vegetable oil and fry for about 1 minute(make sure to stir often while frying)
  4. pour the spices in and stir fry, mix thoroughly.
  5. Put plain flour in a bowl and add a little water (this is used to bind the spring roll wrappers)
  6. Spread out the spring roll wrappers and add the filling, fold together and seal the edges with the binder.
  7. Heat up the vegetable oil and fry the spring rolls until golden brown and crusty
  8. Place in a tissue or paper towel. (this is to drain out excess oil)
  9. Spring roll is usually served with peppered sauce (shito).
